Today is the Day

After a year of planning, prayer, meetings, emails, frustrations, excitement, joy, fear and watching the Lord's specific plans unfold, we leave for Costa Rica today! It's hard to believe it's time! Last minute details have been finished: The boys caught their last Rockies game for the month. The girls finished shopping. Julie finalized details with our in-country contact, Shelley. Fernando (who we can't wait to meet!) is set to pick us up in San Jose. And yes, JT, I finished the snack bags! Tomorrow at this time we'll be in sunny (rainy) San Jose, and most likely we'll be exhausted after a midnight red-eye flight.

Unfortunately, I, Erica, will not be joining them just yet. Due to the death of my grandfather, I'll be joining the team on Monday, May 17th, and they've promised not to zipline through the rain forest without me. :) So later this evening when I drop them off at the airport, we'll hug (and let's be honest, I'll probably cry) and say, "see you soon!" Despite the sadness, the Lord's fingerprints are undeniably over this entire situation. Most specifically, THANK YOU CAROL TREJOS for jumping in to join our team for the first week. We are so grateful for you, Carol!

Please pray for our safety as we travel tonight, and that we are able to sleep some on the plane and be ready to hit the ground running tomorrow. Also pray for our health and strength over the next few weeks. Pray for me as I spend the next few days with my family and then join the team--and for no flight delays from Arkansas so that I make my flight to San Jose on Monday. And for us all, that God would be our strength and all we need during this trip.

See you in San Jose!
